Reading  8:45-11

Learning to Read is the Goal of the year:)

We start at the beginning with the letter names and the sounds they make.
Then they begin blending the sounds to make 3 letter short vowel words (bat, pen, big, pot, fun...)
They work with
-Rhyming words,
-Recognizing beginning and ending sounds of words
-Characters
-Setting
-Compare and Contrast
-Sequencing events
-Main Idea

We add words to a sight word vocabulary each week. A few words are I, a, the, see, to, we, my, come, and, like, me, my, with, you, what, are, now, is, have, of, so, but, from... and so many more.
We read simple stories together and repetition with memorization is the beginning of reading.

PLEASE TEACH THEM TO LOVE BOOKS!
